As families across the world are preparing for Thanksgiving, Sallie’s Halo is reflecting on what we are thankful for. First, we are thankful for each person our team met at our first Popsicles in the park event. We appreciate YOU for signing up to receive newsletters from Sallie’s Halo. You can expect to receive information on the wonderful projects our foundation is preparing and learn ways to volunteer to serve those with cancer.  Secondly, we are thankful for the inspiration for this non-profit the late Rev. Dr. Salatheia Bryant- Honors, kicked name, Sallie, who celebrated her heavenly birthday when she passed on November 10th, 2017. Third and most importantly, we are grateful to our Heavenly Father God and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

This Month’s Feature story

Celebrating Rev. Dr. Salatheia Bryant-Honors 52 years of life

The name Sallie’s Halo was determined by the founders of this non-profit to honor the affectionate name Sallie was called by her family and friends. Halo was decided to illustrate the ways this foundation will illuminate the light, hope, and encouragement that Rev. Dr. Salatheia showed the world while ministering and battling with cancer. Sallie would continue to encourage people during her battle to trust and have faith in God while aiding those in their suffering.

Sallie was diagnosed with triple negative stage 3 breast cancer in 2014 and passed away on November 10th, 2017, after a 3 and half yearlong battle. While her loss was painful for her husband, two teenaged children, extended family, church community, and the greater Houston area, her legacy has continued to inspire people through her preaching, facebook post,  and this nonprofit. Based on Sallie’s family’s struggles with transportation, making meals, paying for parking, buying necessities at hospitals, planning family outing, etc, this non-profit will provide those service to mitigate the negative effects cancer has on patients and their families.

Upcoming events & ways to participate

Sallie’s Halo is celebrating the Rev. Dr. Salatheia’s birthday on February 4th which is coincidently World cancer day by hosting an event in her hometown Tampa, Florida. Our non-profit inspires to be a nationwide support foundation, so it is only appropriate to host her birthday event in the city she was born. We are asking for donations to fund this event; any donate will help serve those in their suffering by raising awareness of Sallia’s Halo. Those who donate $50 or more will receive a Sallie’s Halo t-shirt.
